Well, here I am on a Saturday morning at 8.35 am sitting at my computer.
A combination of half year accounts end, panic stations as all the fee earners realise they have to get their figures up to date and all work in progress billed out (every year the same), a boss who has just come back from a week in New york and has also realised the same, with equal resultant panic, a secretary who threw a wobbly and left on Monday (handed her notice in by phone and was never seen again), another secretary on holiday and a third off sick, and you will understand why I am here.
I comfort myself with the thought that this hard earned dosh will go towards the Ring Cycle tickets, though I must admit to having second thoughts about that, no guarantee that Placido and Bryn will be with voice in a year, it is expensive and I have already seen the aforementioned singers perform their roles. Add to this that the production is utterly dire and I am contemplating spending the money on something else.
As I left Liverpool Street station this morning, down came the rain, total downpour but with the bonus that the sun was shining and yes, by the time I arrived at my office, there was a perfect rainbow in the sky. Never fails to lift my spirits so now, en avant mes amis, to work...
Oh and I pick up my new car on the way home tonight so the day will end well.
