OK so my brand new super duper laptop conked out last night. On line with Packard Bell and the upshot is that it has to go back to their depot for repair and where is this? Mansfield - yes near Nottingham up in the Midlands so I have to have a special kit sent to me with box to pack it in, instructions etc and DHL (ain't no mountain high enough) will take it. It will not come back till mid way through January and as my Open University final assignment draft essay is on it and I now have to recreate it, I am in a blind panic.
My daughter said but Mum you should have backed it up to which I replied YES I KNOW...
Anyway my nice kind IT department here at work are going to lend me a laptop until I get mine back. So there may be a lapse in blogging for a bit though I hope to start posting again pretty soon once I have got this out of the way and mastered the intricacies of my borrowed computer.
It seems ridiculous to invest so much emotion into a piece of machinery but I suppose it is what it represents which is contact with my family and friends. I also have loads of pictures on my computer which I would hate to lose if it turns out to be the hard drive at fault. As the CD-rom drive is making a horrid noise I am hoping it is that only.
Ah, well into each life some rain must fall and worst things happen at sea and there are two mixed cliches to be getting on with...
