Well, what am I to do now on a Saturday night? (Yes I know I can always read a good book that goes without saying) but I am so going to miss the excitement, glamour, sequins, thrills, tears, smiles, hip wiggles (particularly those of Mark) and the simply stunning dance routines.
Mark and Karen were victors and quite rightly so. They were simply sensational and scored a perfect score for their show dance which was performed to Shout and included some lifts that looked scary and dangerous and which brought the audience to their feet screaming and yelling. After that routine, the contest which had been nip and tuck all the way, was decided. There was no way that Mark and Karen could not have won after watching this performance.
Bruce Forsyth said they had taken over 12 million phone calls on the night and throughout the entire show had managed to raise over £1.5m for Children in Need so as well as thoroughly enjoying this fantastic series, it also donates to charity. The programme format of Strictly Come Dancing has now been sold to over 35 countries and yet, initially, the idea was received with a total lack of enthusiasm by the BBC (why does that not surprise me?) Now, of course, it is one of their top rated shows and 'celebrities' are queuing up to perform on it.
So now we have had two finals where all four of the finalists have been sportsmen and for the second year running, a cricketer has won it. Now, if our batsmen in Australia could bat as well as cricketers seem to be able to dance, the Ashes would be safe.
