Sun shining, blue sky and lots of little fluffy white clouds floating by and doesn't it make you feel better when the sun shines? You just feel a bit perkier, a bit more get up and go. This can be the only explanation why I decided to wallpaper my bedroom this weekend. Not the entire room, you understand, but just one wall. I have an all white bedroom and decided that it needed jazzing up a tad as it was, well, white...
So I noted that Laura Ashley had a sale and nipped along and came out with three rolls of what I believe is called Toile de Jouy or something French sounding anyway, in pink. Yes that's right, pink. I can only assume my second childhood has arrived as I have always wanted a pink girly bedroom. I very bravely got up at 8 am this morning, mixed up the gungy wallpaper paste, hauled out my folding table from the living room (moved laptop of course) and got sloshing and cutting. I was detrmined this was all going to be done by lunch time so I could take my usual Sunday afternoon position of lying prone on the sofa, asleep.
It is done and am not totally sure about it and think I may have gone a bit over the top and will have to paint over with white paint. Comments please.
Fired up with enthusiasm after my foray into decorating, I then decided to have a Clear out of The Wardrobe. Most of my summer clothes are languishing in the corner, unworn. Once upon a time I used to pack my winter clothes away on the change of season and vice versa, but not any more as it would appear that all seasons have morphed into one, and unless a beach in a sunny clime calleth, you need to be ready for every eventuality. Anyway, a clear out was in order and each year I am astonished at the number of t-shirts I seem to have acquired. More and more of them came out of the bin liner storage bag and at the last count I appeared to have around 40, most of them out of shape and in colours that I cannot wear and it is all most peculiar. I can only assume I had a rush of blood to the head and picked them up 3 for £10 or something. I have been very stern with myself and the lot are going, save two or three newish white ones, along with four pairs of sandals that I have had for ten years and will never wear again, several summer dresses ditto, and lots more stuff I will not bore you with.
As I have recenlty purchased a new stereo set and printer cum scanner cum everything, I also have a pile of packaging which needs to be taken to the tip, Local Council Landfill Site tomorrow as I can hardly get in and out of my front door.
I felt the mantle of The Domestic Goddess falling upon me which panicked me somewhat so I was very glad to revert to being an idle slattern and get back to the sofa. And yes, I fell asleep - for three hours. I am now going to finish off this totally unintellectual day by cooking my supper and eating it from a tray while I sit down at 8pm to watch a seriously crappy movie which is on tv tonight, Charlie's Angels.
Bliss.
