Bit busy at moment and so apologies for dearth of daily posts. I am off this afternoon and am meeting up with The Bride for A Fitting (sorry for all these capital letters, I feel the spirit of EM Delafield coming over me) which I am sure is going to be teary and wobbly. Then a sit down with cup of tea and cake to discuss flowers and timings and hairdressers and make up etc. So a lovely girly afternoon.
Then in the evening off to meet a friend and Romeo and Juliet at Covent Garden, quite my favourite ballet and this Kenneth MacMillan production, yonks old, is still stunning and wonderful and I have lost count of the number of times I have seen it. First time was with Rudi and Margot (sorry for the name dropping, can't resist it) and tonight it is Carlos Acosta (be still my beating heart) and Tamara Rojo so a heart stopping and heart breaking performance is expected.
I am currently immersed in the new biography of Nureyev by Julie Kavanagh and finding it totally fascinating. This has to be the definitive story of his life, there is so much incredible detail and facts about his early days and childhood I had never come across before. The Nureyevs really were an incredibly poor family, and yet out of this small village came Rudi the dancer. Where did it come from this genius? Quite stunning. It is going to take a while to read as it is a very large book indeed and therefore, cannot be carted to and from work, so it is my book kept by my bedside and a chapter a night.
I was hoping this weekend would be a tad less busy but it doesn't seem to be working out that way although I will be in on Saturday evening and looking forward to my weekly fix of Strictly Come Dancing and keeping my fingers crossed that Kenny Logan gets kicked out.
Please........
