Edward Petherbridge as Lord Peter Wimsey has been mentioned by me recently and, as usual, whenever I post about Dorothy L Sayers and Gaudy Night, I receive lots of emails and comments. This seems to be a favourite book of so many readers. I had been musing on the fact I had not seen this actor for many years when he popped up unexpectedly in an episode of Midsomer Murders and I was delighted to see him again and listen to his elegant speech.
