Have had a simply lovely lazy day (though I fitted in my now daily walk this morning albeit only ten minutes) and my friend Rosemary came round for lunch. I cooked lamb with lots of fresh vegetables and rhubard crumble and cream (very small amounts!) for dessert.
We then put our feet up and watched Lost in Austen all the way through. I simply adore this series and Rosemary had not seen it and had, initially, been reluctant to give it a whirl but I persuaded her otherwise and when she saw the scene below (with Amanda Price having a post modernist Colin Firth moment) her eyes came out on stalks.
"Elaine is it too late to have him for my Easter present?"
Such fun and the references and quotes from Austen including one from Emma 'Badly done Miss Price, badly done' and the 'punting from the Cambridge end' reference which all watchers of this will understand, was just as wonderful as ever.
By complete contrast I have now started to watch The Wire (I have watched ALL of House now so am stuck) as recommended by so many of you and after two episodes have managed to start to get a grip on it and it is looking good....
