Autumn is my favourite season - I love the crisp fresh mornings, the morning mists which clear and the pale sun filters through, walking in the woods and kicking up the leaves, cooking stews and casseroles and blackberry and apple crumble and kicking the lettuce leaves into touch. I even like the nights drawing in (now that I am not working I love them even more) and closing the curtains and putting on the lamps and curling up on the sofa to read or just to veg out in front of a mindless television programme. I love going to bed knowing that now I can stay in my lovely warm bed and just potter about when I want to. I love the fact that Christmas is coming - and you all know how much I dislike the Christmas chaos - because I will be celebrating with my darling Florence who won't know anything about it, but it brings joy to my heart.
So you will have gathered how much I adore the 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness' and here are some pictures I took this weekend when I went out for a walk on Saturday morning. The colours of the leaves was simply breathtaking.
