I have been finding it rather hard to post regularly recently. I seem to be so busy and the days just fly by and I realise I have not been on Random to say hi to all you lovely visitors and to respond to comments as often as I would like. I do like to try and answer all the comments as I think it is so rude to ignore you, but sometimes I find myself floundering a tad.
It is odd that now I am retired I seem to have less time to sit down and write on Random. When I worked in the City I commuted, left my apartment at 7.30 am and got home at 7.30 pm and I managed to write each day. Mark you, that was all I did do. Get up, go to work, come home, have supper, blog and go to bed. It was a pretty regular routine. Now I have the possession of my own time and decide what I want to do and days, weeks and months are flying by. I checked my stats today and it appears I have written 1,353 posts since I started Random four years ago. Working out the number of days since inception which, give a day or two is 1,580, I have managed to post nearly every single day though of course I have had breaks when I have been on holiday and also took a month or so off earlier this year when I lost my wonderful mother.
The statistics are better then I thought, but I have been sitting having a think about it all. At the moment I am up in London a lot looking after my darling Florence, this weekend I am in situ as Helen and James are moving into their first family home and thrilled to bits about it, and I am going up to generally look after Florence during the move, have cooked up a storm today so I can provide meals, tea, biscuits etc etc and have a crowded two or three days ahead of me. I know that I will not have time to blog on Random so have decided that I just have to realise that I cannot write every single day as I usually do. I don't want to feel pressure to do so and so you will have to forgive me if I slow down a bit at the moment.
I am also finding that I don't visit other blogs as much as I used to and I feel bad about this. Reciprocity is the name of the game here, one should visit fellow bloggers and read and comment and encourage - plenty of visitors have done this for me and I would like to spend a little more time reading other thoughts on books that have recently been reviewed and join in so I have decided that starting from next week, I am going to try and visit 2 or 3 blogs, read and enjoy and leave comments because so many of them are fascinating and interesting and I would like to link to them as well and remind everyone else as well as me, just how good they all are.
(And that is a very long sentence)
So that is my plan for the moment. I will be back on Sunday (recording Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday of course....) and will do the draw for AMERICAN DEVIL then - so if you still have not put your name in, please do so.
Series six of House arrived today and I have resolutely put it to one side, next to Series six of NCIS and will save them up for the darker nights. Then I have the final series of 24 as well for the winter so lots of evenings ahead curled up on sofa in dressing gown and woolly socks and plenty of sheer enjoyment as well.
