Over the weekend, I got to thinking about the novel ‘form’ and questioning why I read novels in their printed format. Now, before you go thinking this is a rant against the kindle or a melodramatic love ode to a dying form, I categorically state it is neither. First the novel is not dying, merely evolving/ refining/ diversifying. And secondly, I do not live in the past. I believe these two media can saunter very well alongside one another; hell, even complement each other, especially as they each come into their own more and more, playing to their individual strengths. What it is up to us to do – as readers and consumers- is specify what we want from our experience. The clearer we can be than the more our demands can be met. You wouldn’t go to a michelin-starred restaurant if you wanted a quick, buffet-style fix.

This is an article that caught my eye and I find I agree with nearly all this writer says. Two comments below also interesting. I am not going to swamp Random with Kindle linked posts for all eternity, please be reassured of this, but I am finding this debate fascinating.
The postman has just delivered another two books which arrived after reading this thus encapsulating the two book forms beautifully.
