Well we are all getting there and I have piles of books to read and write about and will endeavour to get back on the Random Road this coming week. All is well with the family now, everyone settling down and the first few days, always fraught, are now behind us all and a routine is being established.
Both grandmothers have been cooking up a storm for the family in London as you really don't want to be planning meals and doing mundane things like that when you have a brand new baby in the house, as well as a toddler who needs to be fed. Paternal grandmother is going over today with lasagnes and quiches, my ex and his wife are going up this afternoon for tea and to see the new baby and they are taking my cooking up with them as well.
So one shepherd's Pie - duly cooked and cheese on top, ready to go into freezer or to heat through today.
Braised meatballs in tomato sauce - ready to be dished up with spaghetti with parmesan on the side, or to be frozen for later use.
For tea this afternoon, and with Florence in mind, a batch of cupcakes and some fresh scones.
I baked the scones this morning and could not resist having a couple for my breakfast. Good coffee, the scone and butter and a dollop of home made jam. Bliss. Simple things are the best you know.
