Madly busy as I knew I would be with family at the moment. I have been in London helping out with grandchildren as daughter and husband fraught and loads of work on and children need to be collected from nursery/school etc. After three days I was glad to get home and have a rest before back up tomorrow as Beatrice is one. Her birthday is on Monday but we are celebrating tomorrow and as Kathryn is here with us from Oz, other members of family are gathering and there will be cake and champagne. I have just baked two quiches for lunch and a tiramisu for dessert and it is a measure of how tired I was that I fell asleep on the sofa and burned both quiches and had to make two more......
So lots of exciting things happening but something I must flag up, could not before until it was all official and publication date was sorted, but my historian daughter, Helen McCarthy, has a book published next year by Bloomsbury. It is called Women of the World, the rise of the Female Diplomat.
I have read chunks of it in proof and it is good - well I would say that obviously, but it really is and looking forward to reading the whole thing and having a copy in my hands.
I will be writing more about this book in due course but just wanted to tell you about it now as I am bursting with pride and joy and want to share it with you all.
Back with you all soon after I have recovered from the festivities. It is All Go but I am not complaining - it is wonderful having such happy family times with memories to cherish in the future.
