It was Helen's book launch this week and will be posting about that but as it is a holiday weekend here in the UK, I thought I would post something lighthearted and fun.
Paul Hollywood, the Silver Fox, the blue eyed judge of the Great British Bake Off was in town. Well, in Ipswich really not far from Colchester, and my two daughters had given me two VIP tickets for his show. This included a Meet and Greet with the man before it all kicked off so after going round Ipswich several times on its famed one way system, I managed to locate the theatre, park the car and Rosemary and I were taken up the stairs to meet The Man. Not just us, of course, the room was pretty full and the first thing I noticed was that nearly everyone was female. There were a few reluctant spouses/partners around looking slightly akward and all insisting they bought the tickets 'for the wife' when pressed.
Well in came the man himself and up I went and told him that my daughters had bought me these tickets and that they wanted a really 'cheesy picture'. 'No problems' he replied 'all I have to do is smile'. He was very sweet and chatted for a few mins and signed one of my books and generally was easy and laid back.
I duly posted this pic to my two girls who were delighted with the amount of cheese it contained. I am slightly alarmed at my double chin but at least one person in this photo looks good..
Fun evening all around. Cooking demostration and chat with a large audience amusing and witty. Not sure I would have chosen to go if I had seen it advertised, but very glad I was given the tickets as a good time was had by moi.
It is a Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK and I am spending it in Ealing with the Other Grandparents and are looking after the girls while daughter and husband have a day and a night away and relax and have some quality time. We have organised DVDs, books, games, fun things to do, a supply of Kit-Kats and are ready for the fray. I have had a quiet day and caught up on my sleep as pretty sure it will be in short supply over the next two days and am ready to go.
Have a good few days everyone and back on Monday.
