Everyone still going on about Blackpool. 'Oh wasn't it wonderful?' 'Oh yes it was'
Me: on no it wasn't. It was the usual overkill and disappointment. Bit like Christmas really.
I think the over hype, expectation et al meant that this week's show was going to be a bit subdued, but oh how I prefer it when we are back in the studio with no extra dancers poncing about and getting in the way and we could concentrate on the couples rather than shrieking because some over excited dancer has leapt in front of the camera.
Before I talk about the dancing I must mention The Dress of Tess which was such a luminous shocking pink it made her impossible to ignore and believe me we all try to do so every week. She either has no sleeves, asymmetrical sleeves or half a sleeve and this week shew as wearing a Bat cape, that is the only word for it. Claudia in black. You know what Claude, there are other colours you know you ought to try them now and then.
Darcy dress split up to the thigh, obviously she was not to be outdone. Shirley looking quite gold sparkly and elegant.
Right in no particular order:
Joe and Katya - quickstep. They were apparently on a girder on a New York skyscraper. No I don't know either. Both of them dressed in dungarees etc and looking quite drab but a great dance. Joe has come such a long way since he started and Katya is a great choreographer. High scores all round and I immediately reached for my remote but too late, I could not mute her and her shrieks set all the local cats fleeing for the hills.
Alexandra and Gorka - the Rumba. Ghastly dance and why they persist with it I do not know. Last week Debbie and Gio hid a rock and suffered accordingly and this week A and G were not overwhelmed with praise and were marked quite low, for them anyway. She took it well and did not over react,
Davood and Nadia - oh I was looking forward to their waltz, she in a beautiful dress, he in tails. The whole thing was classy and elegant and I loved every moment of it. Nadia is just so beautiful. According to the tabloids all the other female pros hate her and say she looks like a Barbie doll....
Kevin and Susan - sweet American smooth. Nice and I enjoyed it. Feeling is she may have come to the end of the road but I would not be surprised if she got through.
Mollie and AJ - blimey this couple are so banal and boring. I don't know why. Mollie seems such a sweet girl and very keen and eager in a puppyish kind of a way, but AJ really creeps me out with his doll like face and perfect features. He just does not look real. Again, according to the tabloids, he and Mollie are having a 'thing'. The mind simply boggles.
Gemma and Aljiaz. Samba which started off with them being in bed together. Aljiez was wearing a red onesie. I gather that Gemma did not do particularly well but I will have to take that as read because I could not take my eyes of Aljiez. When they stood next to Tess in her fluorescent pink and they in their red my tv nearly imploded with an overdose of colour. My eyes my eyes...
Debbie and Giovanni - now I love these two, I have since week one. Their partnership and their relationship is simply lovely, so full of respect and admiration. He was so excited at their score and kept hugging and shaking Debbie and was beside himself. I think he is a sweetie. Loved their Argentine tango. Loved it.
We were then treated to a Pasodoblethon. A mess it was. (forgive the Yoda speak). We were all simply staggered and surprised not to see that Alexandra and Gorka came out top - cannot have them going out this week now can we says the judges. Cynical.Moi?
I have had a busy day and am sitting writing htis propped up in bed with the laptop on my lap. Well, where else would it be?
My feeling is that the dance off will be between Gemma and Mollie. Susan should be going but everyone loves her so think she will get through. I will log on later and find out the result and I have to say that so far this series my predictions have been nearly all right. Except for the week Aston went of course, though I did say it was around this time there was a shock elimination.
So the results show tomorrow night and the upside of the Beeb pretending that it as filmed then, means that Tess has to change her dress so we will not have to suffer that appalling pink thingy again.
Not sure who the singer is tomorrow, it is usually somebody I have never heard of, that is quite easy to do, but we had Ball and Boe last week so that suffering is out the way. So far this series we have been spared Andre Bocelli and Andre Rieu but we still have a few weeks to go...
Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeep dancing
PS totally off topic but there is a new show about baking on this week featuring Senor Hollywood and taking part is the gorgeously wonderful Selasi from last year's Bake Off. Oh be still my beating heart..
