Anne Bronte has long been a favourite of mine, Tenant of Wildfell Hall being as good as Jane Eyre in my humble, so was delighted when I spotted a new biography of her by Nick Holland. I was equally delighted to see that he shares my view on this rather unappreciated sister and makes this very clear in his book.
I have written a review of this title for Shiny New Books and I give you the link below so you can nip over there and read it. It is a must for all Bronte fans and it is beautifully produced with lovely smooth paper which always, for me anyway, adds to the reading experience.

It is quite some time since I visited Haworth and I really must get up there again as it is one of those places that lay its spell upon you. However, if any readers decide to go after reading this biography, I would recommend you go out of season, just wrap up warm, and when visiting the Parsonage get there the minute the door is open. That way you will miss coach parties etc.
Should you visit in winter, as I have done, go late afternoon when it is dark and the wind is wuthering and you have the place to yourselves. I tell you, the atmosphere is something else.....
